Doc, thanks and by the way I am planning to see a dermatolgist tomorrow,but you didn't answer all of my questions...
1) can the bacteria causing this travel into the urinery tract and cause the discomfort I described earlier and will I need an oral antibiotic to clear this up?
2)should I see a urologist as well to take care of the urinery tract infection or can the dermatoligist handle this?
3) would a yeast infection attack the forskin and underlying penal skin and cause burning?
4)how long before I should see some improvement from the clotrimazole and might the dermatologist prescribe additional topical medication?

1. I doubt there is also a bacteria involved here.
2. The dermatologist should be able to take care of both. A urine culture, if needed, should clarify whether the pain you feel is just caused by the intense outside inflammation.
3. Very possibly.
4. If your dermatologist thinks yeast is the culprit, he or she might prescribe a single oral dose of fluconazole (Diflucan).
