I don't have to actually eat or smell spicy foods for my face and scalp to burn and sweat. Just thinking about hot peppers causes it, even though there may be no peppers anywhere in the vicinity. My face will burn and sweat along side my nose, under my eyes, along my upper lip, across my forehead, and on my scalp (all bilaterally). The sweating is most profuse on my scalp, wetting my hair. I find it amusing, and mystifying, although not particularly embarrasing (I am what I am, after all), although the burning on my face can be somewhat uncomfortable.
Reading about Frey's Syndrome, I see some causes, but have not had any surgeries that would seem to cause it, unless the removal of impacted wisdom teeth would do it. I'm 60 and have had this a long time, but don't know when it started. I also sustained a blow to the side of the head many years ago that knocked me unconscious briefly but didn't "break anything". I have tinnitus in the ear on that side.
Just wondering if the wisdom tooth surgery (all four were removed at the same time) or the blow to one side of the head would have caused this?
