Friction Burn Question

I'm an athlete, and I've had a small issue lately. A couple days ago, I came back from an hour-long run, and ended up with a decent size friction burn on the head of my penis from rubbing inside of the running shorts. I've never had one before, so I'm not sure about the healing process. The skin was raw at first, but now has a layer of "hard" skin over it, which I'm assuming is a scab. But its not really brown-ish in color like most scabs are--its more like a callous maybe. Is this normal? Is it something to worry about?

Ok, so after the initial scab came off, it was sort of like a blister for a couple of days, and now its just a red mark that gets dry and flaky... its been about a week and a half since I got the friction burn... I've been putting lotion on it several times a day... how long is this thing supposed to last? And is there anything specific I can do to rid myself of it? Any help would be nice.
