Fungus on my head doesnt want seem to want to go away.

I have a type of fungus on the top of my head, it produces blister type bumps on my head which in turn also results in hair loss, I would like to at least like to keep it from spreading, I've tried to use anti-biotics, anti-fungals that were prescribed but didnt seem to effect it, any ideas?

To make sure whether bacteria or fungi is responsible, it would help if you have the lesions on your scalp evaluated by obtaining a culture or skin scrapings. Treatment is dependent on the underlying cause. If it is a fungal infection, treatment is usually aggressive due to the tendency of hair loss. Aside from topical anti-fungals, oral treatment is usually prescribed. The fungus responds well with these treatment regimens, though it takes a long time to see the results. It is also advised that you take the medicines 1-2 weeks after the resolution of symptoms to make sure that the fungus is cleared. At this point, try to avoid scratching the lesions to prevent secondary bacterial infection. It is also important to keep the area clean and dry. A follow-up appointment with your doctor is needed for proper management.
