General Behavior of fungus

General Behavior of fungus

I believe that I have had a toenail fungus for sometime, mainly but a yellowing of the big toe nail and admittedly ignored it.  My question is:  can the fungus on/under the nail spread elsewhere?  For past couple months I have noticed what seems to be jock itch, although I am pretty active I've never had it before.  Can toenail fungus "migrate" to other hospitable areas?  I am noticing bouts of off and on itchiness and redness in groin area which if left alone has a minor irritation and sorta pinkish but if scratch even a little bit flares up and get pretty angry.

Hello,
Toenail fungus or onychomycosis can be picked up in damp areas such as public gyms, shower stalls or swimming pools. The condition can also spread from one toe to another, or to other parts of the body. Wash your feet regularly and dry them thoroughly when they get wet. Wearing nail polish on the toes is not advised because it can seal in fungus and allow it to grow. Keep toenails trimmed and use disinfected pedicure tools.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
