Generalized Itching -no rash

Hi,
I have a severe itching on my whole body, I scratch myself like crazy. Blood, urine test seem to be normal. My doctor said it's seasonal pertussis. What kind of diagnosis is that, so weird...I never had any allergies to food or plants - anything. I found something scary on Internet that itching without any reason can be a sign of Hodgkin's lymphoma, I remember I didn't pass the X-ray to check my chest lymph nodes. I'm so scared now. My other lymphs are not enlarged.
Help!!!!!

Is strange that you mentioned 'foam' - recently worked two weeks dealing with Polyurethane and I personally believe this was the cause of my itching. It totally drives you barking mad! Confronted supervisor and he claimed that no one else had ever complained of such a thing. I got out of there quick smart given that all the workers were working without dust masks or eye protection. But it's the skin itching/irritation that is the most concern - the metallic like taste in mouth will subside and the burning eyes, also will taper off. The skin however is just an all out hell for leather attack on humanity. Does not seem to want to go away - It's been two months almost since I worked in this hell hole and the itching is still going strong.. Really concerned about any potential toxic related risks.

I have just started getting the most irritating all over itch. It only occurs at night when I'm in bed. I have a memory foam mattress so I'm guessing some form of 'mites' are not causing it. I've tried changing sheets, duvet covers, washing powders etc etc without any joy at all. Whilst I appreciate it's not that bad a problem healthwise it's affecting my sleep pattern consequently my day to day life through lack of sleep.
Any ideas anyone?
Many thanks.

I had this kind of itching as well. At first it seemed to be itching everywhere equally. However, I noticed it was slightly itchier in the groin area than the others. Two doctors said it was allergy before a third one correctly diagnosed it as fungal infection. There was no rash, redness, nothing. I used anti allergy pills and anti allergy creams for about 2 months to no avail. When I finally used the antifungal cream, the itch was reduced. I would recommend testing to see whether or not it is fungus.

I am in full depression, itch doesn't go, once I open my eyes in the morning, I'm all itching again. No appetite, no good mood, low blood pressure,  fatigue, I lost some weight, all skiny and bony now, black circles under my eyes.
The doctor doesn't find anything, prescribes me another pack of Benadryl, it helps for 4 hours and then itch is back.
My tongue looks brown and bloody with enlarged taste buds, skin is burning and itching, and no rash - I fill like I'm 90 years old female, not 35.
I have this itch for 3 months - too long for an allergy.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Itchy skin that isn't accompanied by other obvious skin changes, such as a rash, is most often caused by dry skin (xerosis). Other conditions cause itchy skin as well. Skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods  can cause itchy skin.

You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. You should choose mild soaps without dyes or perfumes and use a mild, unscented laundry detergent when washing clothes, towels and bedding.

Please take a second opinion from a dermatologist if the symptoms persist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I have allergies. If I do not take antihistamines I will itch all over, but without any rash. Allergies present them differently in different people. Try taking Benadryl and see if that relieves the itching. If it does - instant diagnosis.
