Genetial Itching and stinging pains

Dear Dr. Rockoff
I have distracting genital and rectal itching accompanied by increased urinary urgency and frequency and mild but distracting “shooting/stinging” pains at the tip of my penis.

I have been experiencing these for about a year and they became noticeable after I received oral sex from a friend.

I have subsequently been to multiple urologists and dermatologists, and have had multiple blood tests which have tested negative for Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Herpes I &2,  My urine has been tested for white blood cells (none) and I have been on multiple courses of antibiotics to prophylactically treat any infection I might have had.  The only positive test was a finding of Enterrococus Faecelie in my sperm for which I have now been on Amoxicillin for a month.  I will have my sperm retested in a week or two, but the intermittent genital itching and stinging at the tip of my Penis has not gone away.  It can come and go for days at a time ---no sores of any kind, but the very tip of my penis is redder than in the past although two urologists said it was normal.

I remain concerned about having sex with my wife which i have abstained from for almost a year until the situation resolved itself, which it hasn’t.

What advice would you have to determine or test if I have something communicable or if there is a treatment for what I do have?   I have had excemea on my chest for years, but can't imagine how it could have expanded and there are no signs of such. Thanks

Because you have had so many negative tests, feel comfortable in suggesting that your symptoms are psychosomatic, resulting from anxiety and guilt.  I therefore strongly urge you to seek counseling, whether alone or with your wife.  You have no reason to put your sex life on indefinite hold.  There is no physical disease I know of that would produce these symptoms.  Time for you to get the help you need to move on.

Take care.
