Genital Dryness/Rash

by nervousmale, Aug 26, 2003 12:00AM
Let me start out by saying that I have not had intercourse in several months, and the last time was with a known 'clean' partner.  A few months ago, I noticed a couple of small areas just under the head of my penis seemed chafed.  I figured it was just friction from masturbating, so I started to apply Vaseline skin lotion to it once a day or so.  Now it seems like the head of the penis is getting irritation marks on it too, almost like it is pruned from being in the water.  The whole area is red now, and it seems to be spreading further up the head.  It looks like there are tiny dimples all over the head. What should I do?  I know it is not an STD, but I can't stop thinking about it. Please HELP.

I think it's irritation, as you surmise.  I would moisturize with any moisturizer, and not wash too often or too vigorously.  A few days of 1% hydrocortisone may help too.

Don't worry.

My thoughts are with you. I just posted my question yesterday "Herpes or am I just losing my mind?".

You said that is all you can think about. Try and calm down. I know that it is hard to do at a time like this, but take it from me, it will only make things seem so much worse.

I am slowly but surely coming to grips with the fact that I AM OKAY!!!!!!

I am sure that Dr. Rockoff will give you an answer that will give you peace.

I just want to say how much I appreciate this forum and Dr. Rockoff.  He is a wonderful man. I have read all of the archives and he gives great answers and advice.

I still have a funny feeling in my left testicle and down my left leg all the way to my foot. In the past I have had pains in my leg like this, and I hope that is all just because of the muscle clinching that I have been doing for the past 28 days, and the fact that I have vigorously checked myself and stretched my left testicle so much. I guess that can cause soreness like I am talking about.

Anyway calm down!  I hope that you feel better soon. I will pray for you.

To: Girlfriend needs advice Dr.'s Please
I have a serious concern for my longime boyfriend.  Over the last year we have had intercourse.  He started noticing about three months into the relationship that his penis would break out in a rash instantly after intercourse. He first thought just dry skin and would treat it for that.  It goes away and returns after each sexual contact but has gone on now for 9 months.

Up front I will tell you he has had Herpes Virus since he was in his early 20's.  He is now 46 years old so knows how to watch for symptoms and he says this is different.  It started like the chapping and then redness which many times leads to a stinging sensation for him.  My concern is that he has never experienced this before with other women in the past.

Could this be anything to do with me or a reaction to my body?  My sexual contact and partners has been very limited as recently divorced in a monogomas relationship.  I am clean, healthy and never had a sexual disease of any kind. (I am aware of the sexual risk with him however.) I have seen my doctor regarding internal sorness and she tested for SIDS.  There were no signs of infection but she said my walls looked adjutated most likely due to friction with intercourse. He is not rough, however he is well endowed. :-) Can you have a alergic (allergic) reaction to eachothers body fluids?

Can you help me with advice/feedback Please?  It would be much appreciated.
