I was just diagnosed with HSV2 based on a blood test (elevated levels of type HSV2 noted) and a small area of infection located on the upper portion of my right buttock. I have never had any genital symptoms.
My Doctor said that given the location, it is possible I contracted it from something other than

1. Will the virus only shed at the sight of infection (my buttocks)?
2. During an outbreak is it possible for me to transmit the virus during protected (

3. Is it necessary for me to disclose this virus given its' location. My doctor likened the situation to having it on my face. She basically stated that it was up to me, but not the same as having herpes on my genitals. Please elaborate.
Thank you.
Also check out the STD forum, there are lots of info posted there about transmission info, including drug treatment info and condom usage. Just to a search up top on a few of these topics.
