Genital Warts concern

by notsure21, Jul 27, 2006 12:00AM
Hello:
About 5 years ago I had an HPV outbreak, which I seem to have cleared since then.  But I am (I think understandably), a little paranoid about both the wart causing kind and the cervical cancer type.

Recent I had an OB appt, and I was surprised that the doctor didn't wash her hands.  She wore gloves of course, but she had typed on the computer, shaken my hand, opened lots of cabinets in the exam room, etc. first.

So it seems to me that in putting on the gloves, she basically transferred anything on her hand to the gloves.

I didn't even think to say something at the time, but should I mention it to someone in her office now?

And is this cause for concern as far as HPV is concerned?  (I know it's hardier than your average STD virus).

If you could transfer warts by touching them, we all would be covered with warts.  So you needn't worry that your doctor's hygienic lapse will cause wart spread.

After 5 years, I hope your concern has at least moderated somewhat.  If you ever get another one, you or your doctor will see it.

Take care.
