Genital Warts?

by commduck, Jul 02, 2002 12:00AM
About three or four years ago, I noticed what appeared to be a patch of grayish brown skin about a half an inch from the base of my penis and kind of rectangular in shape(about 1 millimeter long by a half a millimeter wide). I think it might have been slightly raised, but it was hard to tell..  and it was the same texture as the skin around it. I'm not really sure how long it took to form, it seems like it just showed up one night...  lasted for about 3 to 5 months, then went away. I tried putting vinegar on it, but it didnt turn white. I also tried putting over the counter wart remover on it too, and other than making the area very red, it didnt do anything either. Prior to this showing up, I had only been with one partner, and I believe she had only been with one other guy before me. I did contact her, and she said she visually inspected herself and didnt see anything.. and routine pap- tests didnt reveal anything either. I havent noticed any other bumps or patches like that since then, except for very small white-ish colored bumps(but I dont think they're warts??). I have been tested for sexually transmitted diseases, and came up clean, but the doctor told me that they couldnt test for genital warts unless they saw something that actually resembled one. I have been pretty much living in constant fear thinking that a wart might show up, and checking myself two or three times a day for changes. Do you think what I saw might have been a wart, or should I stop worrying about it?  and are small white-ish colored bumps here and there normal? I have a lot of them on the underside, but now I think I'm starting to see them on the top of the shaft as well! Thanks in advance for any help.. and sorry this is so long.

Doesn't sound to me as though it was a wart.  The little
white bumps you see are certainly not warts--among other
things, the doctor would have recognized them.  Don't
use vinegar--that turns lots of things white that aren't
warts.  Don't use wart remedies either--they just
irritate the skin.

JUst forget about it.  If a wart came, you'd see it,
because there would be a clear-cut bump that looks
different from anything you have now.  But since you
most likely never had one, there's no particular reason
to think you ever will.

Take care.
