Genital bumps/burning been for a few months

by m922, Jun 25, 2007 12:00AM
On the lower rim, left side of the head of my penis there are a few small greyish bumps in a line. During erection their color seems to be more yellowish and they are much more visible. Sometimes though when flaccid they cannot be seen at all. I went to the Urologist and this was the case, he said he saw "nothing that looked like an STD but he said I could go to the skin Doctor if I wanted but I would probably hear the same diagnosis. The next day I could see them again. Also when I sit upright for a long period of time such as in class I feel a peculiar burning or cold sensation in the same area as the bumps. The sensation will come for 35-40 seconds and then stop. I did have unprotected sex 6 and a half months ago and the bumps and burning/cold sensation have been present for about 4 months along with occassional flakey white skin on other areas of the penis (I think the flakey skin may be caused by the soap I use) but no changes in size or color of the bumps. I am a pre-med student and I am familiar with HPV and that is the only thing I could think of based on the time the bumps have been present. Do you have any idea based on my description of what this could be and do you recommend that I abstain from sexual intercourse? Thank you for your time Doctor, and thank you for what you do.

Based on your description, I don't think you have HPV or any other form of STD.  I think that your anxiety over your unprotected intercourse has made you more vigilant about minor and unimportant changes in your penis, and that your anxiety has induced the sensations you have.  If you need another source of reassurance, from a dermatologist, for instance by all means get it.  But then I suggest you out your concerns behind you and move on.

Take care.

I have to say from personal experience that anxiety caused 99% of my problems. When I began thinking i had herpes, I then got all the symptoms of herpes, just not sores. But every ingrown hair or bump I assumed was herpes and so on. One good indicator of anxiety symtptoms is once you're busy or your mind is elsewhere the symptoms stop. :-) Been there!
Relax, educate yourself and listen to the Doctor. The doctors here are wonderful.

To: I am worried, too.
The day before yesterday, I had unprotected sex with my fiancee.  We are in a monogamous relationship (we do not swing). Yesterday, I discovered 4 very small what look to be blisters or bumps (zits?) on the head of my penis.  They do not hurt, but I can feel some irritation when something like my robe rubs against the head of my penis.  They do not have any red or irritated skin surrounding  them.  Just four tiny bumps, two pairs, one pair is very close together, the other pair about 2mm apart and 4mm from the other pair.  It does not hurt or burn to urinate.

Any ideas?  By the way, I am taking amoxicillin (1000mg/TID) for an upper respiratory lung infection.

I was very worried about what happened to me, I know I stressed out my Bf as well because of this. we both sexually active. recently I had something which is distrubing so much. I when to my doctor, she said this STD , it called warst, I was so much scared and she asked me to do blood test ( for Hepatitis B, HIV and Sphylis)

I was freaking out, really. I have no doubt if that is correct and been doing treatment for a couple of days so far. But I wonder why I need to this kind of blood test. Is this correct? or not? in my mind I was so scared...as she asked me to HIV test and the way she told me, made even worried than before.

Dr, Please lead me on this
