Genital warts or cysts?

Genital warts or cysts?

Dear Dr. Rockoff:

I am a 22-year-old male college student who has noticed several small, white and/or flesh-colored pimple-like bumps predominantly on the underside of the shaft of my penis.  These small pimples/bumps are hard when squeezed but do not to secrete any fluid.  I have also felt intermittent penile itching, but I am aware that this may be a psycho-symptomatic response.  Even though I did not notice the bumps until months after I had been sexually active, I have become VERY concerned that they may be the symptom of HPV/genital warts.

In December, I visited my family practitioner, who told me that these small bumps appeared

The best way to distinguish them is to consult a physician.  You've done this, and gotten opinions which are reasonable and undoubtedly correct.  Sometimes you just need to take yes for an answer.

The idea that cysts come from "clogging of the pores" is pure folklore.  Proper hygiene is the same for the penis as for the rest of the body.

Basically, the less you think about the penis, the better off you are.  Nnow that you've checked things out in a thorough and responsible way, you should try to turn your attention elsewhere.

If your persistent concerns are related to sexula matters--unprotected sex, perhaps--you should address those on their own terms.

Best.

Thank you for your response, Dr. Rockoff.

I found this photograph today which closely resembles what I have and may help to set others' minds at ease.

i am a 19 year old male student, and i also have the same condition mentioned in this post and displayed in the pics. However i have had it for a number of years, it has become more and more prominant over time, its first started at the base of my penis when i was around 13 yrs old, now it covers almost my entire penis and scrotum surface area. Is this normal for it to spread?
Is there any treatment for this condition? or practices which may reduce its severity?
I am very concerned about it, any help would be greatly appreciated.
