Girlfriend has very red rash near groin on inner thigh

by california1, Jun 05, 2007 12:00AM
Hello,

The other day my girlfriend noticed a rash appear on her inner left thigh near her groin. Over the last few days the rash has spread to about 3-4 inches down her thigh and across the left side of her left hip. The rash is very red, no bumps really, and it does NOT itch or hurt. I can't feel the rash if I run my finger over it either meaning it isn't protruding much if at all. Once again it is isolated just to the left side of her. Any idea what this might be? There are no signs of bumps or anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It could be irritation or it could be fungus (which is not contagious in general, by the way.)  I advise her to use over-the-counter clotrimazole cream 1% twice a day and set up up a doctor's appointment.  She can cancel that of the rash goes away.

Take care.
