Gum Overgrowth

I have been diagnosed with Melkersson Rosenthal Syndrome, after repeated facial paraylsis and extreme swelling in my top lip.  I have also suffered for years with gum overgrowth.  Just last night everything was fine, when suddenly I got a terrible headache and woke up in the morning to find the gums on one side of my very swollen and sore.  In some area's its nearly covering my teeth.  As my doctors know very little about MRS I was wondering if you could tell me if this gum inflammation could be a symptom of MRS? My other symptoms of MRS are now under control, but this constant inflammation of the gums is very painful, and becoming more regular.  I have been to the dentist who feels that whilst my teeth aren't perfect, there must be more to it as my gums are in such a bad way.

Melkersson Rosenthal Syndrome can involve face, lips and the development of folds and furrows in the tongue. It can involve the gums , palate, cheeks and eyelids. Treatment consist of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids to reduce swelling, as well as antibiotics and immunosuppressants. Massage and electrical stimulation may also be prescribed.
