HCV

I am a 56 yr. old female and I have Hep C and have had acne since I was 13. I have been in and out of derm. offices all my life. At times I have had remissions, but lately I have been breaking out with cysts etc. I have been on Minocycline off and on. I last tried just Retin-A without Mino, but I didn't have any success.I  went back on my Mino. and it clears me, but I do not want to stay on antibiotics the rest of my life.  So back to the derm. I have never been on Accutane.I have left this as only a LAST resort.Well I am at that point. My derm. obtained the ok from my GI Dr. for Accutane. I am still kind-of weary of this. I want to protect my liver!! What do you think?? I had my baseline lab draw, and my AST is 49, and ALT 50. But I know these wax and wane with Hep C anyway. I just took my 2nd.Accutane pill last night. Everything that I have read says contraindicated with liver disease. Can you give me your opinion? Thanks, Lol

This discussion is related to Accutane in the over 50 crowd.
