HELP!

by kulekrizpy, Oct 22, 2009 10:19PM
I have a dark red-ish rash underneath both my arms, in the area where I shave and apply deodorant. It is painful when I move to much, and itches. It appeared a few days ago and got very irritated. It is dry and peeling around the edges.

All that I can think of is an allergic reaction to my deodorant (my armpits have been very sensitive in the past), though I have not switched. Baby powder and baking soda don't help.

The nearest that I can get a doctor's appointment is Nov. 4. Please help!

To: kulekrizpy,
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like irritant contact dermatitis and boil. Please  keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

Also, is it okay for me to exercise and sweat? Probably not, right?
