HELP perianal warts and hemmorhoids

by giov1, Nov 22, 2006 12:00AM
I am a 35 year old male. My question is in depth but please help:

1) if I notice warts (small white bumps) on my perianal area MUST I treat them as I have read that if they do not bother you then no worries. When I stretch the anal area I can see a couple on the inside of the anus.

2) I also have a case of hemmorhoids/piles as well that seem to be ever present but not life altering. Will using an ointment (preperation H etc.) to treat this cause the warts to spread?

3) I tried to use Aldara for the perianal warts. Does this irritate the hemmorhoidal tissue? It makes a very uncomfortable situation.

4) I also seemed to have a minor case of fecal leakage. Ever since my dermatologist froze off a case of perianal warts I seemed to notice this new problem!!!!!

What do I do and who would I see at this point. I looked for a proctologist but can only find gastreontolgistss (spelling???)HELP!!

What is VERY distrurbing is I am s straight male and do not understand why I get these in my perianal area????

DOES ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS?????

You may well have had perianal warts, but your description makes it sound as though you do not have them now.  The little white bumps you have that you can see when you stretch the skin are cysts, not warts.  By all means see a proctologist if you can find one; if not, a gastroenterologist can tell as well (or a dermatologist, of course.)  The forget about them.

Many anal warts occur in people who have never had anal intercourse.  Where they come from is hard to say.  But it sounds as though yours are gone.

Best.

I saw a dermatologist who said they were perianal warts and what I notice now and on the inside are the little white bumps which were diagnosed before as warts.  My question was a little more in depth as to the questions...

Preparation H does not spread warts.  I can't comment on fecal leakage, since that's beyond my expertise, but freezing off warts does not spread them.  I know your dermatologist diagnosed anal warts; however, I still don't think the spots you say you have now are warts, and I urge you to check that out before using any more Aldara.

if they are cysts what do you do?  as it does not look normal and they seem to spread if left alone.

It may not look normal to you, but it may well look normal to a doctor.  Please go and ask.  There's no point in continuing to speculate.  And if they are cysts, there is no point in treating them, since they belong there.  Thanks.  Dr. Rockoff
