HPV Scars Darkening

by Doge, Jan 25, 2007 12:00AM
My doctor froze about 25 genital warts, around the base of my penis, over the past 10 years or so.  Initially, I could not see any scars or evidence of the proceedure.

Over the past two years I've been able to see these areas darkening in the spots I believe to be the areas he froze. Certainly, I don't remember all of them, but it seems clear this is what these dark spots are.

I've been tanning over the last two years and have come to the conclusion that this is the cause.  Does this seem to be an accurate assumption? Should I see a dermatologist?  Are there any remedies on the market to fade these dark spots?

Thanks
Doge

PS Covering up in the tanning booth, of course.

Freezing can cause temporary darkening, especially in people of color.  But that wouldn't explain their still being there after 2 years, much less darkening.  It doesn't sound like anything serious, but you'll need to see a dermatologist in person to find out for sure.  Fade creams aren't very effective on the body (as opposed to the face), and besides, you want to know what something is before treating it.

Best.
