Hair Loss Problem: Is this Male Pattern Baldness?

Hi,

I am having hair loss mainly in the crown area for the last 3-4 years. There is no receding hairline. Around 2 years back I went to a dermatologist who asked me to do a blood test and finally told me to take livogen and folic acid tablets. But, the problem continued. Around 2 months back I visited another dermatologist who told me that it is Male Pattern Baldness and asked me to apply Minoxidil 5% solution twice daily. After applying minoxidil for 2 months now, my hair loss has increased incredibly and there is too much irritation on the scalp along with some pain coming from inside the scalp sometime. Also, I have a small lump on my head (in the crown area) which does not cause any pain for the last 2-3 years which the dermatologist says needs to be removed surgically.

So, is this really Male Pattern Baldness with no receding hairline and minoxidil not working. Can it be because of something else ?

Please Help!!

Thanks
