Hair Loss

Doctor:
Aside form Minoxodil or Propecia (which are said to provide marginal results), is there any product on the market which slows/stops hair loss and grows hair. Are the over the counter products a waste of money? Anything new on the horizon?

Thanks Doctor

I would like to know abit more about Alopecia Areata, please.
My brother is 23 and has lost a area of hair on his head about the size of a dollar coin.  If the hair grows back will it again be lost at another time, is it repeating?  There are a few new growths in the patch but they are easily pulled out,  will it eventually grow and stay?  What are the chances of him losing all his hair?  Is it true that there is no cure for it?
Please any info will help
Thanks in advance

I'm having extreme hair loss and my scalp feels like its on fire, yet to look at it there is no rash or inflamation or anything, what could it be? and how do you treat it besides putting ice packs on my head?

Charlie:

Aside from minoxidil and Propecia, there's nothing useful out there.  The two approved drugs are pretty good at maintaning hair, but not much at growing more hair.  As to the horizon, who knows?

Best.
