It is important to keep the area clean. A medicated shampoo on the scalp such as one containing selenium sulfide like selsen may also help.If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist
Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing if you have any additional queries.
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it sounds like a fungal infection(tinea capitis). The symptoms of Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling and crusting, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck.
Diagnosis is by clinical examination of the scalp as well as a skin lesion biopsy with microscopic examination.Anti-fungal medications, taken by mouth, are used to treat the infection. Also topical antifungals containing clotrimazole or miconazole are effective.
