Hair loss and thining

Hair loss and thining

I am experiencing quite abit of hair loss lately.  It is noticable more when my hair is wet.  I have been through alot of stress this past year.  I had a stoke in the fall ( no damage done), and lost both of my sisters 10 days apart 5 months ago.
One sister was extremely sudden and without warning.
I am on the following medications:
Wellbutrin
Avalide
Plavex
Lipitor
aspirin 81 mg
I was also on Prednisone for a short period ( 10 days)
Can you tell me if this hair loss is more likely from the stress
of my losses, or medication?  Any advice of something I could do to help this situation?
Thank you.

Stress can certainly promote hair loss, though such loss is temporary.  I suggest you get a sense for how much hair you're actually losing by counting the hairs that come out when you comb over 3 days--if the total is under 300, you aren't losing as much as you think you are.  I assume you don't have any bald spots or patches.

Just for peace of mind, I suggest you contact a dermatologist to get a definitive diagnosis.  But this does not sound serious or irreversible.  I also doubt that your medications have a direct relationship with this, though the judgment will depend on when you started them.

I'm sorry to hear about your sisters' passing.

All the best.
