I've been on Spironolactone for 3 years for acne. After 1 year I noticed my hair started falling out. It's continued for 2 years now and is obvious and noticable that I've lost more than half of my hair. My dermatologist said to stay on the Spironolactone that it's probably not causing the hair loss. My ferritin is 28 which the doctor said is low and could be causing the hair loss. I've been on an iron supplement for a year trying to increase my ferritin. My hair loss is getting worse despite the iron. I've also had my hormones tested and my thyroid, those results were "normal". Has anyone ever reacted to Sprironolactone with hair loss? Thanks you.
side effect, usually it helps with hair loss though.
It supposed takes about6-8 months to see kind of results with hair loss on spiro, but since you have been on it for so long and it just getting worse then it is probably not going to help you and/or may be causing it to get worse.
