Head Bumps

by salesman1, Sep 18, 2009 12:07AM
Please help, read all my info; Ok here is something thathas been bothering me for years with no resolve. I have had little and or big bumps sometimes with a white head appear over the last 7 years. the issue is if they are squeezed they dont go away sometimes a clear liquid comes out. If I look closer with a mirror you can see a hair in the center of the white, if you pull it out it will ooose and then finally go away after about 2 days, It has left pitholes in my scalp and also scars where hair no longer will grow in, sometimes the hair just slides out of the pimple when pulled like it were a needle, it may be darker then the rest of the hair or come out with 2 hairs rather than 1. What can this be, why do I have it and what can i do about it? Polysporin has helped to reduce the redness but i need to get rid of this its embarrasing, sometimes after a short hair cut it subsides a day or 2 then comes back stronger and longer. what do I do the dermitologist gave me some shampoo it didnt work i live in Li, NY any good dermotologists or ideas? Thanks

Hello,
The symptoms are suggestive of folliculitis. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.I n case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. Acne keloidalis nuchae have to be ruled out.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
