I noticed that my hair was starting to come out MUCH more than usual. It is VERY thin on the ends and the ends get matted and knotted. I've tried cleaning my scalp because I assumed that using hairspray and other hair products may be clogging pores. I even tried baking soda. I usually have what seems to be clumps of gook that I can't seem to get rid of even if I try to peel it off. It seems that after each hair washing it is still there. I am having blood work done to see it the cause may be hormonal or thyroid related. I'm so used to my hair being thick and manageable. Can you help?
There are a number of things that can cause excessive hair loss. This may include stress, hormonal problems, certain medicines, infections or from an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. If this is stress related, it may be a temporary occurrence. However, it would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor for proper management. Treatment usually depends on the underlying cause. It is good that you are having the blood tests done. Take care and keep us posted with the results.
