Help with nevus

I have a linear epidermal nevus that goes from the back of my ankle all the way up my leg to the top of my thigh and I have been to the dermatologist maybe 30 times I have tried everything from creams to steroid shots in the area to radiation treatments. Nothing has worked, it wouldn't be so bad but the thing is it forms scalps on it and itches like crazy. I am getting desperate I would go to a study program or something but I have been told it won't go away and it just seems to keep getting a tad larger every year. What do I do?? I feel like it's almost a handicap!  I cant go 5 hours without scratching the thing, not to mention its gross..

ask if you can get it cut out or if you can use CO2 laser treatment
