done where they put an artificial embolism in the main blood vessel feeding it to prevent it from bleeding too much during the operation and to stop the bleeding that was currently occurring and wasn't stopping. Now i'm a bit nervous since ive never had a surgery before in my life and was too nervous to get it looked into earlier so i was wondering are there any serious risks involved with the removal of these things aside from infection? or should i not be worrying my head
off about it? because i basically have the worst of the worst things pictured in my mind (bleeding out blah blah) when i know that i probobly should not be as worried about it as i am.
tumor. With regards to surgical excision of the hemangioma "the greatest risk of hemangioma excision is bleeding during the operation, as these tumors are comprised of abnormal blood vessels.."
The risks involve for any forms of surgery include bleeding , scarring and the complications of infection. In your case, you have been thoroughly assessed prior to the surgery . Tests have been done to assess the depth and extent of the hemangioma. Discuss your fears and concerns with your surgeon. Ask him with regards to the number of similar operations he has done and the success rates of the operations. You may also ask with regards to the outcomes of similar procedures in patients of your age and gender. This will help you look into this objectively and prepare you also for the operation.
