Herpes? Balantis? Crazy? Please help!

by stiffmiester, Mar 28, 2005 12:00AM
I'm a 30 y/o male I've been having issues for the last 3+ months.  Here are events as I recall:

November 2004: Recieved oral sex from female who later told me she was + for HSV-2 and had HPV.

Early Dec 04: Scrotum began to itch. Two weeks later, scrotum was very red in all the spots where her mouth was, became somewhat "sticky" to the touch, and burned and tingled.  Identical sensation then "moved" to the anal area.  Burning, itching, tingling very very red.  Small crack appeared on perenium.  Swabed and negative for herpes.  I saw a Dr who said no worries.  He prescribed me Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate.   I later went back and was tested: HIV & Herpes Select.  HSV1 IGG present 1.23H; HSV2 IGG within index range .20. IGM was not detected.  He prescribed Mometasome Furoate .1% for the cracked/rash skin which had no effect.

Early Jan:  Red spots appeared sporatically all over the head of the penis.  Around the uretheral opening, a red ring appeared where the tissue is raised slightly and has since not gone away and has expanded slightly.  The edge of the ring is very distinct when erect and when skin is tightened.  Inside penis, just behind the head on the inside, I get an itch that is piercing and sometimes feels like someone is stabbing me with a pin on the inside.  It will stand me up if I'm sitting.

Mid Jan: Went back to same Dr one more time.  He said psychological and to not come back to see him for it because it's nothing.  I disagree.

Early Feb:  Lips on face began to have similar symptoms of that on anus and scrotum.  Small white spots appeared on lower lip (looks like small-medium sized pimples that don't go away)  and fordyce appeared on upper lip that seems to be multiplying.  I went to a new Dr. who treated me for chylamidia and ghonneria with 1000mg Zithromiacin and 10 days of levoquin.  Next day after zithromiacin, lips seemed to scab over slightly and itch badly.

Mid Feb:  Went back to new dr, who also said psychological.  Problems coninued.

Mid March:  Complained of sore throat.  Positive for strep.  1 Z-pack.  Interestingly, it seemed to reduce the swelling around the raised skin around tip of penis...not sure if perceptual or actual. I'm not crazy, very logical and definitely concerned.

Now:  Penis is now on fire; very red.  Scrotum also red and burning and itching again.  Lips have not stopped and white pimples are still there.  I'm on ominicef for next few days because throat is still sore, but I'm now negative for strep though.  Also have an "unexplainable" dry cough.  In addition, these redish spots have appeared on my buttocks, tricep, and shoulder.

Yes, there are many things going on here.  I don't know what else to do.  Yes, I'm anxious.  But there is definitely something there.  What else can I do?  I don't want to go to ER. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...any advice will be helpful!

Basically, my advice is to listen to the doctors who have already seen you and reassured you, correctly in my view.  You are certainly seeing and feeling things, but they are not the symptoms of herpes.  They sound like irritation plus worry.  Your herpes test was negative for HSV-2.  In addition, getting oral sex from someone who has HSV-2 (and is therefore shedding virus vaginally, not orally) as well as (vaginal) HPV does not pose a risk to you for genital involvement of either of these conditions.  What you should do is first of all, relax.  Second, ask your dermatologist for treatment of the rashes you do have, whatever they are.  Third, have a general doctor assure you that your sore throat and dry cough are of no consequence.

Best.
