HSV type 2 may present itself in other parts of the body although there is a slight preference of the infection in the genitalia. A previous exposure to someone with herpetic infections may increase the likelihood that this may be herpes. You have described the condition to be blisters and the rash also presents with pain. A fungal infection may still be a differential. A blood test to check for HSV antibody may help determine the presence of an acute infection caused by the virus. HSV DNA test or culture may be done to help determine the presence of an infection. A negative culture may warrant for a HSV antibody test just to confirm if this is indeed herpes.
