Herpes of Anal Fissure

I have herpes that appear on my left buttock about once a year, if lucky longer.  It looks like a mosquito bite then it starts to blister as it gets bigger into a cluster of blisters, about that time I always get a very swollen groin gland on the left bikini line, always.  In the past looking back I would get anal irritations from bowel movements they felt like little cuts, never thought anything of it and just put neosporen on it.  Now I have been getting them more regularly maybe once a month, sometimes can go months without a problem, but noticed at first there was blood on tissue and was a little constipated.  I read a lot of horrific things on the net and got paranoid that it might be herpes so went to Dr. and was told it was an anal fissure by the looks of it, she said it was a tear that was like a straight line, and that herpes would be round and that it was not herpes, I insisted on a test, she said nothing was there to test, plus it was almost gone.  Also along with this my anus swells up on the side of the sore.  It is not red, just looks swollen like a hemoroid.  It is somewhat painful during BM and stings to wipe.  I still put neoporen on it and cortaid for the swelling, it usually goes away in two weeks, sometimes sooner.  Anyway, there hasn't been any blood with this one and before this one occured I had a numbing and tingling sensation up and down my crack and around my anus before the skin around my anus started to swell, the next day it itched a bit, and my groin was swollen on my left side (nothing like that when I get an Herpes outbreak, less severe) but that could be anything, maybe the fissure is causing that? Also I had a couple of difficult stools prior to this, nothing major (a little constipation, not drinking enough water).  The pain only occurs during BM, after that it doesn't bother me, just emotionally wondering if it is herpes.

Sorry for all the details, I just would like to know if my herpes has moved from my buttock (left side about 1 to 2inch  over from the top of my crack on cheek, it has always recurred in this location for almost twenty years) to my anus.  My last Herpes outbreak on buttock was March 2003 due to getting very upset almost tramatized, that is usually the reason, that is what it takes I am very healthy.  Since then I have had maybe 2 or 3 of these.  I don't know if you get tingling sensation around anus or buttocks with an anal fissure or not.  Or could that be from anything from sitting on butt too long, etc.  Reading the net sure does a number on you, it has done one on me.  I hope you can clear this up for me.

PS  Also back in 2000 before I got married I had sexual relations with a man that had herpes, he always used a condom. Before I knew of his condition I had performed oral sex on him.  Ever since then I have been concerned about the herpes on my anus.  He never touched my anus.  I have never had anal sex.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

i was interested to read about the lady with butt herpes, i have been married to the same man since 1991, in 1995 i had what i thought was as spider bite on my butt, it was very bad and i had the bug man come spray, over the next few years i had several "spider bites" and almost got a spider tatoo on my butt as thats where they always were, we were talking about my bites at work in 2003 when a friend asked me privatly if i had herpes, i said NO! she said my bites sounded a lot like herpes and when i researched it on the internet and realized that when ever i got stressed along would come the bite with always a swollen lymph node and a feeling of bitchiness plus a tingling in my leg i knew that i had some kind of herpes! the interesting thing is i have never had in in my vagina ever! my husband has never had it, so is it a genitial herpes, if so it laid dormant in my stytem for 5 years before i ever got a sign, i dont suffer from cold sores, i am sporting a nice bite on my *** as i type and it is really baffling me as to where i got it from, can i give it to my husband, i did go to the dr who gave me valtrex and did,nt seem too concerned about it, anyway enough babbling, i was just wondering if anyone else had just "butt herpes??"

I have three red bumps that look like bug bites and which feel like bug bites also, one around my anus and two on my cheek area. Is it herpes? I'm confused though, because I also have one on my back. And my partner and I have been tested and are negative. What is it??

How did you get herpes on your butt? Butt herpes is fairly common in people with genital herpes infections. The usual way for it to get there is to first infect the genitals and then follow a different nerve fiber from the ganglion down to a different location in the anogenital region. The nerves to that area all have connections to the same ganglia, so it's not much of a jump.

Thank you for your response, My main concern was could it migrate to another location.  I don't want to spread to my husband, what is upsetting is getting this near my genitals where the risk of transmission is greater.  If can spread from butt cheek to anus, why not to vagina.  I have lived with this thing on my butt cheek and accept that but on my genitals is another thing.

Generally, herpes stays in more or less the same place and doesn't migrate.  Since you already have herpes, I'm not sure why the thought that you have it in another place nearby is so upsetting, but having said that, I think what you're describing is more likely to be a fissure than herpes.  Fissures deserve to be treated too.  I advise you to see your doctor at the next onset of these symptoms, so that inspection, and perhaps culture, can settle the matter to your satisfaction.  Your performing oral sex could not lead to your getting anal herpes.

Best.
