Hi. I just went through a similar situation with my boyfriend. He started to notice red bumps in the same area you say you have yours. There was no pain or irritation and they would go away and come back. It turned out to be herpes 1 of the genitals. I'm not saying this is what you have but you should get it checked out. If there are no lesions they will have to do blood work on you. Make sure they are using the latest herpes exam; the IgG. Good luck with everything!
Thanks for the feedback. I have a follow up question now. This past weekend I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend again and the next night we tried again but she complained of it hurting on her left side. I asked her what it felt like and she said a bruise or cut on the inside. Her spot matches the area where I have the redness on my penis. The redness does not hurt or itch like I said before but it seems like the area is a little bit larger now. It looks like slightly raw skin similar to jock itch but not as noticeable. Should I go get this checked out?
Hi
I do not think this is herpes. Herpes usually presents as a cluster of reddish blisters that may tingle or burn. If the bumps appeared immediately, then herpetic skin conditions may not be likely. However, I still consider herpes as a differential here. Herpetic whitlow may involve the fingers and they may also spread in other parts of the body. Blood test to determine if you have been infected with HSV may be done. At this point, you may apply 1 % hydrocortisone over the area and assess the skin if this has improved in two days time. If not, then have this further evaluated as you may need antiviral medications for this.
