Herpes or bug bite?

I had a single, slightly painful open sore on my knee centered on a reddish area a little smaller than a dime.  The open part of the sore was small and had small bits of clear fluid comming out of it.  After 8 days it is pretty much healed but the skin on the reddish area is dry and flaky.

About a month ago, I had a red bump on the underside of my other knee where it bends and now it just looks like a red circular patch with dryish skin.

I tested negative for herpes at 5 months post my last possible exposure, but I am still worried that these may be herpes as they don't seem like standard bug bites.

I was wondering about the negative test at 5 months.  Some say that 4 months is definitive, others say six.  Also, some say that herpes occurs only in the boxer short area while others say that they can appear anywhere, though rarely.

Usually bug bites for me have just been itchy red bumps that go away.  Can bites also resemble what I have described?

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

To help you a bit, these do not appear to be standard herpes lesions wither. This is based on the typical pattern of Herpes occurring in a group of fluid filled lesions. However, this may be confirmed only on an examination by a health care professional.

I would like to think of these as either of folliculitis, dermatitis or a bug bite.

Since it appears to be healing, you may relax, but please be aware of any other such lesions coming up in any other part of the body.

You may apply antiseptic cream and keep the area free from dirt/germs.

Hope this helped. Let me know if you may need any more help.
Best regards
