Herpes or folliculitis

by FredWite, Aug 31, 2007 02:14AM
I have 7 white bumps above my pubic line, which are in a cluster, and also a cluster of bumps that look like that closer to the shaft of my penis.  Light white marks also are beginning to appear on the shaft.  I have only had unprotected sex 2 times, and I have had these bumps for months now.  I have tried anti-fungal cream but doesnt seem to be working that well.  If i pop them blood comes out, and eventually they go away.  Im not sure if Herpes is a concern I should have or if these are just hair follicles.  I know normally herpes goes away over time, and these have never gone away in id say the past 6 months.  Im not sure what this might be, they dont hurt, burn, tingle, or anything like that.  I do shave my pubic hair but im just really concerned about what these may be.  I visited my doctor recently and he said they dont seem to be herpes, and he suggested a dermatologist.  Please respond and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

sounds like common folliculitis, you need to start either using a new disposable razor every time you shave or cleaning the blade with alcohol before hand.

also antibacterial soap is a good idea

It makes me nervous though..tonight it did have a bit of tenderness, not really pain, felt tingly at some points but it was just one side, not sure if thats normal?

then i think you should go have a blood test done to rule out herpes once and for all.

best of luck :)

do you think that it could be herpes?  When they pop they do bleed, but no pain unless touched afterwards.

it's very hard to say, try posting this on the std forum and see what that very helpful group has to say. folliculitis is not usually tingly
