Herpes or ingrown hair?

I've been having some itching/burning the last few days where one of my testicles meets my groin, kind of in the valley there. I had several pimples there that were not lumped together, 2-3 on my testicle, and a couple more on my groin. They were not in one bunch, but probably between .25 and .75cm's apart, and the area was very itchy. This lasted 5 days max, but now it's clearing up. I do shave down there and at first I attributed it to the hair growing back in, which happens sometimes to me, so I shaved it again (2 days ago), which only seemed to make it worse. I've never had this many pimples at once before from shaving. The pimples didn't ooze or pop.  Since I shaved again, I can't tell if they're ingrown hairs or not.

I last had protected sex a little more than a week ago with someone new. I had a sore throat shortly after for about a day, but I took some zinc drops and it cleared up pretty quickly..

I'm really worried that it could be Herpes, but I'm not sure.

I can't be sure either, but these sound like pimples or ingrown hairs and not like herpes.  Please have a doctor look at it ASAP, not because I think it's serious but because I think it isn't, and the best way to settle the matter so you can relax is for someone to see it when it's fresh and present.
