Herpes?

by campbell, Apr 08, 2003 12:00AM
I wrote last week asking about the possibility that I might have contracted HPV. After getting your feedback, I sought the advice of another doctor. My first doctor perscribed wart creme on the chance that I might have warts but he didn´t think I had. It was just a precaution. He had also told me he thought it was safe for me to have sex so long as I used a condom.

The second docotor looked at me and gave me a second vinger test for warts (whats it call, condoloma?) But she said she could see not problem with me and the test was negetive again. She said perhaps the irritation I feel was just an alergic (allergic) reaction to new underwear or any number of things. At any rate, she said that I seem fine and that I should just tell my new girlfriend that I´ve consulted with two doctors that have no reason to believe there is any problem.

I told my girlfriend and she agreed that as long as we used protection that all should be well. Being we live in different cities and dont see each other so much we had sex frequently this weekend, all with the use of a condom but she did perform oral sex on me unprotected.

The day after I left, My irratation felt even more agrevated and sometimes I´m feeling very soar but it comes in waves. Also the texture of my skin around just below the urethra looks different. I cant tell if its the forming of blisters or not. there are slight bumps and a glossy look to the skin even though it is dry and clean.

Perhaps just raw from sex? but I´m once agin in a state of worry that this could be herpes or something. I´m not mormally so obsesed about my health but this has been going on for a while and  would like to know whats worng with me. i cant seem to get a straight answer. Unfortunatley Im also traveling abroad and not in an english speaking country at the moment. The two doctors I saw last week were in scandanavia and there is no language barrier.

What are some things I can look for to confirm that this is or is not the herpes virus. Ive had the irration for about a week but dont have any open soars.

Also, how easily is genital herpes pass to the mouth and how likely is it that this occured.

Thanks

"Raw from sex" pretty much says it all.  Having a lot of sex can certainly cause sensitive skin like that on the penis to look red, feel irritated, etc.  You say you have any open sores, but you would have to have those to have herpes.  As to oral transmission, it probably can happen but is quite uncommon.  But in any case, your doctor had speculated about wart, not herpes.

The reassurance your doctors gave you seems appropriate.  I think you should keep the area lubricated and give the matter, the penis, and yourself a rest.

Best.

Hi my boyfriend has these two bumps and a rash on his penis.  He says that they don't hurt but they do itch.  There are not bumps on the head of his penis only on the lower level.  After he discover his bumps i had decided to check myself out and found that this little pain i had been having was a bump right on the skin on top of my clitoris not to mention other two bumps i found on the side of my lips (inside the vagina) and an open cut by the opening.  Please help me figure this out, yes we have unprotected sex, I don't always take my pills but one thing is for sure I don't have sex or sleep with anyone else.

One mre thing i went to the doctor about a month ago and she said i was okay and had no STD's.  Is it possible for a STD to form from two people who don't have anything?

Yes, it is possible for two people who tested negative for STDs to obtain one. The herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores can be transferred to the genitals, causing a herpes simplex infection in that area. If you engage in oral sex while your partner has a cold sore or a break in the skin on the mouth, you can get genital herpes. I've heard of cases where the partner who performed oral sex didn't even have a cold sore at present but still shed the virus. Though, it will still be the oral herpes virus, you will not test positive for genital herpes. Outbreaks are generally less, and not as severe in this case, but you can still give herpes to other people genitally when having sex with them. Hope this helped.
