Hideous penis smell

by millerfan211, Jul 19, 2005 12:00AM
When I was twelve, I made the dum mistake of applying all sorts of chemicals that burned the skin of my penis. While the skin seems ok (the scars are still visible) It seems that is has left a very unpleasant long-term effect. It seems that for some weird reason when the normal drop of urine comes in contact with the head and sides of the penis a really bad smell is produced. The problem only happens during the mornings. If I wait about 3 1/2 hours before taking a shower and going to class, everything is fine. I also seem to have problems controlling the outflow of urine properly. Most of the time I am left with the sensation that a drop of urine is stuck midway. This sensation is very disturbing. The fact that it only happens in the morning makes me believe that it might have to with the acidity of my urine. My urine is very strong in the morning. This problem has had a detrimental effect in my life and my self-esteem as you can imagine. The smell is a mixture of the smell of the penis and the smell of urine. People siting next to me can smell it, they have told me so. Four months ago I got circumcised thinking that it might help, and it has a bit since the foreskin doesn't concentrate the moistness with my penis, but the smell is still there. I have been living with this problem for 10 years and I am desperate for a cure.

I'm afraid I have no idea what you are referring to.  Chemicals applied to the skin can't produce long-term odor problems.  I suspect that the sensation and the smell are the result of your thinking and worrying about the penis.  If people next to you say them smell something funny, it doesn't necessarily mean the smell comes from the penis.  Most people have strong-smelling urine in the morning, because urine is concentrated then.  Smell would not have anything to do with "controlling the flow" of urine.

In other words, your symptoms do not add up or make sense.  I advise you to get definitive opinions from your urologist and perhaps a medical doctor who tests urine.  If they can't confirm an abnormality, you will need to give serious consideration to seeking therapy for abnormal body sensations.  I have no doubt you will not find that suggestion satisfactory, but I urge you to consider it anyway.

Best.

I am no expert but I get the impression that the strong pungent urine and a feeling of not emptying properly are down to lack of hydration.

I would advise you to DRASTICALLY increase your intake of water to about ten glasses a day.

Over the course of a week, see if this does the trick.

I suppose you should also consult a urologist as well. It's probably no harm
