Hives for 6 WEEKS WITH RASH!!!HELP

About 6 weeks ago I developed what I thought was a small pimple on my lower back/buttocks area.  I itched it and it grew to about a penny.  Then I ended up itching so bad it blead.  Days later I was still itching. Then little bumps began to appear around them, some were raised pimply looking but they would go away right after I stopped itching. Within a week I began developing hives all over my body.  Face, legs, back and arms mostly.  The spot on my lower back/buttock is still present but just a small scab.  My hives are so severe i have had to be hospitalized twice.  I  have seen an Allergist and he can not determine what the cause is. I do not have any real allergies.  Then I went to my primary, got tested for scabies, said not MRSA or Imphego or STDs, came back clean.  It has been 6 weeks now and i am still getting the hives.  I noticed that my Lymph nodes in my groin area are swollen.  My allergist and the Hospitals put me on steroids and I went from 120 to 131 in 3 weeks with no relief!!!  I stopped taking the medicines because they were not helping.  I am at a loss, I constanally break out no matter where I am or what I am doing.  In the past 6 weeks the only time i was not breaking out was when i did yard work but once i went back inside, i broke out.  I break out at work, which is HORRIBLE.  I am in and out of meetings and court and this is now affecting me to the point where i do not want to leave my house.

I have scabs and bruses from itching and the hives just come and go all day.  Please help.

I've had major hives, or uticaria, twice in my life, and they just returned again recently.  I get the same run-around from doctors.. "We don't know what's causing it."  Yeah.. thanks!!  Anyway, prednisone has worked well for me in the past, and is working now.  I know it's a steroid and not someting you can take consistenly, but I honestly don't care at this point.  My third time going through it I'll do whatever I have to to get rid of it.
Interesting, this time around the hives are accompanied by hot flashes and acid reflux.  Don't know why.  Any thoughts on this??

I read another post that said they were helped by acupuncture, because it releases excess heat and other toxins from your body.  Might be worth trying.

I have been suffering from stress induced hives for four weeks now.  Over the counter antihistamines have not helped.  Today I learned that zantac blocks a different type of histamine, so I'm now trying that.

Hi,

Hives are basically raised, itchy lesions on the surface of the skin caused by allergy to any substance. This happens when the body encounters a substance that it is allergic or sensitive to, and releases histamines and other chemicals. With hives, the center of the welt blanches, or turns white, when pressed.

Most cases of Hives reveal no apparent cause for the sudden sensitivity revealed.
It is estimated that up to 70% of hives go undiagnosed as to the cause, because they can appear hours after exposure to the irritant. Also approximately 20% of people will have hives at some point in their lives. If you have a genetic tendency to allergies or food sensitivities, chances are that you may develop hives sometime.

Substances which trigger hives can come from many different sources. Inhaled, consumed or contacted materials may trigger Hives,  including medicine, food, contact irritants, infection or illness, environment and stress.

There are several other physical causes of hives, or uticaria, as doctors call them. These include cold uticaria, which are hives caused by contact with cold water or air. Dermatographia is a more rare cause of hives, affecting only 5% of people.

Chronic uticaria should be investigated by your physician. Also complications of hives can include anaphylaxis, which is a swollen airway. This can be the result of a serious allergy and should be treated immediately. Symptoms of a serious reaction include tightness in the throat, shortness of breath, swelling of the tongue or face, wheezing and loss of consciousness.

You may take antihistamine and try and find out the possible causes which may be causing the lesions. Avoiding such substances may also be helpful. Let me know if you may need any more help.

Best regards

My wife had them for three months after getting off antibiotics. You just have to deal with them. Don't scratch, it only makes it worse.
Witch Hazel worked to keep the itch down. It could be stress.
