Hot Tub Rash?

Hot Tub Rash?

I recently purchased a hot tub and had to fill it with unfiltered well water.  We added the appropriate chlorine and sanitizers and used it the same day.  Within the next few days I developed a rash with blisters around my stomach and belly button area.  I also was doing yard work in 90 degrees temps and was sweating my butt off and continued to wear my heavily sweat soked t-shirt for both afternoons to avoid sun burn.  Should I see a doctor about this issue or will it go away?  Is there anything I can do over the counter?  Do I have to stop using the brand new hot tub?  My concern is staph or having it develop into a blood infection.  Is it contagious?

Thanks for you help!

I think you should see a doctor.  Hot tub folliculitis goes away by itself, but I'm not certain from your description that that's what you have.  It may be a skin infection requiring an antibiotic.  Examination and possible culture seem to be what you need.

Take care.
