How long will the pink mark after the scab take to go away?

Do I have a scar or post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation/ discolouration? And how long will it take for the mark to go back to my normal skin colour?

So in January 2015, I went running in a non-sports bra and the cup of my bra was digging into both of my breasts. Eventually, a scab formed on both of my breasts. Then, the scab fell off. After the scab fell off a pink mark, showed up in the same spot as the scab used to be in. I started using Mederma but I didn't think that this was having much of an effect. So I am now using Dermatix and have been for the past 2 weeks. I will continue using it since that it says you should use it for a minimum of 2 months.

Also, see photo attached.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for detailed response.

I doubt I have yeast growth and okay I will not apply any whitening products.

I will continue applying sunscreen as I believe it seems to be helping.

I guess time is the best way for this to heal and get back to its normal colour!

Thank you, once again, for your help.

Once a scab dries and falls off the skin underneath has closed and healed. It will take time for it lighten up on its own and can take weeks or months, depends on quickly your body heals.  Wounds take much longer to heal for someone who has diabetes.

Do NOT apply any whitening products to your skin.  Your skin has been damaged, may have a fungal infection and needs to be treated properly.  Whitening products are chemicals that may damage your skin permanently.

If the area of skin does get exposed to the sun, a sunscreen is OK, otherwise there is no point putting it on.

If you notice the area is red and shiny, it may be a fungal problem.  And an antifungal cream that you can purchase from the pharmacist will help with that.  Once the fungal problem is being dealt with the skin will get back to your normal colour.

Where the bra dug in and caused a scab, that will take longer to get back to normal.

Best to avoid bras that are underwired and wear cotton support bras all the time.  The manmade fibre ones will make you sweat under the breasts and that can encourage yeast growth.

You can purchase an antifungal cream from the pharmacy without a prescription.  As I do not know which country you are in, ask the pharmacist to recommend an antifungal cream for you.  Don't use the ones that are used for the feet.

You can also purchase an antifungal talcum powder and that will help to keep the area dry.  Warm and moisture in skin folds and under the breasts encourages yeast growth.

As a home remedy, you can try applying natural set yogurt before go to sleep at night.

Thank you for replying!

Could you please tell me if you think I am doing the right thing applying Dermatix and sunscreen and that I do not need to bother doing anything else, other than letting it heal? Should I try 'skin whitening products' or just stick to what I am doing?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

It will fade in time, but how long that will take is any ones guess.

You need to be patient and leave it to heal.
