How to confirm fungal and other infections

I have bad itch in my private area that is coming again and again. I have read on the internet and symptoms don't sound like fungus as there is no redness etc. My doctor still wants me to take clotrimazole. The other cream I was using gold bond medicated itch cream which was giving relief but i didn't used it continuosly. Now I am confused if i should use clotrimazole or this cream or both as I need to treat it ASAP. There is no outer sign so I don't think any test can be done. Also how long should i use it and is it ok if i just use at night and wash in morning.

Hello,
The itch concerning the groin region is mostly due to fungal infection which can cause jock itch. Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels.

Most cases of ring worm respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
