How to get rid of noseeums in scalp

How to get rid of noseeums in scalp

in June 2010 while hiking in southern Utah, a ranger warned me that the gnats and "noseeums" were reported in the area.  I applied OFF w/40% deet everywhere except my head and wore a hat the entire hike.  That evening my scapl was literally crawling and had many raised red welts.  After shampooing I applied hydrocortisone cream on the welts.  Since there was no improvement the next day, I applied Neosporin for 2 days and then back to the hydrocortisone cream.  After searching the internet, it seemed that I would have to "put up" with it for about 2 to 3 weeks.  Finally on July 14th I saw my family physician who prescribed Cyproheptad 4 mg., Clobetasol 0.05% and Methypred 4 mg.  We set off flea bombs in our livingroom and bedroom, twice, and then had our house professionally exterminated and 2 weeks later had our bedroom and all upholstered furniture exterminated again.  On Aug. 20th I returned to my family physician who prescrbied Lindame 1% shampoos.  I now start taking daily baths w/hot water and epson salts which give some relief.  I feel ligthly crawling things on me, espeically around my left ear and face.  Taking a morning shower and evening epsom salt baths, each time including shampoosing my harir gives me some relief.  I feel lumps on my scalp and although 4 different people have seach my scalp and have found nothing, every few days my scalp burns and hurts.  Also I have spots that have been there for weeks and my skin bruises around the larger bites.  On Sept. 15th my family physician referred me to a dermatologist.  His PA said that she couldn't see anything on my skin and represcribed the Clobetasol 0.05%.  By this time, I feel that both my family physician and dermatologist have written me off as a "nut" case.  However, my husband beleives me as he also feels "things" crawling in our bed and has seen the bites on my body.

By showering, bathing twice daily and changing the bedsheets daily and vaccumming daily help BUT I want to be rid of the noseeums!!!

Can I be hosting these bugs and their eggs?  Although the dermatologist's PA assured me that I am not contagious, I have been avoiding close contact w/my gkids and am very concerned about spreading these bugs to others.  Plus every few days, the return of the crawling things are beginning to really drive me "nutty".

I know from info on the internet that I'm not the only one who has been affected by noseeums bites on the scalp.  But I can't find out how they every got rid of them!!!  All and any help would be sincerely appreciated.  Thank you
