My daughter is 6mths and she's been using hydrocortosine for about 4mths. I know that prolonged use is not good and after the 1% was not working she is now in 2.5%. I do not want to continue the use of this because of what may harm her and i've tried so many other things. I limit her baths (2-3 a wk). I've tried using mild soaps like dove to no soaps at all. I've used jegens, eucerin, lubriderm and other medicated soaps and its just not working. What should i do???
Most babies have food allergies. Did the doctor say to change her diet. MilkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal eggs cheese peanuts soy and many other possibilities. Stay away from medicated soaps. Cetaphil works good. Cotton clothing only. Apply Vaseline or olive oil just after bath. You need to keep the skin very moist and Vaseline also works as a barrier.
Most people grow out of this. I grew into it at 43.
Digestion is usually the culprit. You need to increase the good bacteria. Talk to your doctor of course but a good yogurt with low sugar could help. Keep sugar down. Fruit and vegetablesVegetable laxative are the best.
You are right to stay away from hydroHydro ear Hydro gp Hydro par Hydro-dp Hydro-pc ii Hydro-pc ii plus Hydro-tussin dhc Hydro-tussin exp cortisone. That is last resort and will not help if you haven't found the cause.
Stop feeding her everything that you have and start over with a new diet.
I hope this helps.
