Hyperpigmentation all over body or somthing else?

Hyperpigmentation all over body or somthing else?

I am a 13 year-old African American female. I know that this is kind of long but I want to be as specific as possible. Leopard like spots, (Some what like Ashy Dermatosis) darker than my orginal skin have formed and spreading down my inner arms and inner thighs. They DO NOT itch or irritate in any way. They are NOT risen at all. The spots are going in a bilateral symmetry. There ARE some less darken spots on my body EXCEPT my chest, feet, and hands(they are COMPLETLEY CLEAR). This started during the middle of the month of December of 2010 and are progressively spreading. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DERMOTOLOGIST and HAVE HAD A BIOPSY, and said it MIGHT be Post Inflammatory Hyperigmentation but they are NOT completely sure what it is and whats causing it. They also prescribed MINOCYCLINE 100 MG, GREY AND WHITE CAPSULE, I took 1 capsule mourning and night WITH A MEAl, (Doctor told me to eat a meal with it) . Now, after 2 WEEKS of taking it DID get better, BUT I had to stop taking it because it was too strong and I had many side effects. After the MINOCYCLINE the Dermotalogist prescribed ERYTHROMYCIN 500MG PINK TABLET, WITH A MEAL, Mourning and Night. It hasn't had an effect since I have only been taking it for 10 days. I only want suggestings on what might be happening and whats causing it, I am trying my best to but this in my on hands so my Mother does not have to pay so much for the Dermatologist treatments. Could it be my skin cells were damaged and are producing too much melenin? Or does this sound like some type of fungul infection? Or could this be dealing with hormons? I have heard of a rare skin infection called Ashy Dermotosis.

Please and Thank you.

Hello,
For such spots, pityriasis versicolor also needs to be ruled out. Pityriasis versicolor (Tinea veriscolor) is a fungal infection caused by commensal yeasts in hot and humid conditions. They may be reddish brown, slightly scaly patches or ugly, depigmented areas that will not tan, especially in suntanned skin.

I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
