Hyperpigmentation on face

by LuckyJen, Jul 17, 2007 10:01PM
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with hyperpigmentation of the skin on the face (Melasma)?  I have had problems with dark pigmented areas on my face for 10+ years, despite wearing sunscreen religously.  However, when researching the hyperpigmentation, I found that a number of people with this problem also have thyroid disorders.

I'd love to get some feedback to give to my Endocrinologist.

Thanks

Clinique have a new product called Even Better Skin Tone Corrector which will fade marks such as these. Bio-oil and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Scar formula are also good.

Hi,

Do you have any other associated symptoms of itching, rash , etc.

You should try to avoid sweat collection in the areas, keep the areas clean, maintain good personal hygiene, wear lose comfortable clothes. Apply calamine lotion at the sites. You should continue using the sunscreen.

Consult a skin specialist for your complaints and discuss whether a demyleininzing agent would help in your case. You could also discuss about dermabrasion or laser therapy in your case with your doctor.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.
