Hypopigmentation after burn from laser hair removal

I was burned on July 17 after laser hair removal. It later peeled and I was left with white hypopigmentation marks. It has been three months and I have not seen any changes. Please let me know if this is permanent or if there is any treatment for this.

The sleep med I was taking was too powerful, Saffrin, and before I could not do anything, I fainted with a scolding cup of hot water for coffee in my hand, leaving a clearly demarcated and sizeable burn on my right shoulder.  Did not go to ER as PCP suggested, was too depressed, no energy, had too many losses.  MD, PhD dermatologist said it would not have made difference if did go to ER.  It has been about 17 or 18 months now since this happened.  It seems to look a bit better; there are fewer and smaller burn blisters, but over a long period of time.  One of my doctors, can't recall which, prescribed SSD TM 1% Silver Ssulfurdiazine, to avoid infections in burns for animals and humans as I understand.  I was not looking for it, found it underneath my end table and decided to research it, as I am a PhD psychologist) and decided to use it at this late date. I am ending up using SSD TM, found accidently, along with halebetisol proprionate ointment and cordran tape (expensive stuff).  Question: Is there a chance of no scaring eventually with treatment?  (Dermatologist will look at it again May 31,13)  Or, will I need some kind of plastic surgery as he said before even looking at it so I made an appointment as previously mentioned.  I have an excellent plastic surgeon that fixed an old torn tendon, right thumb, lined up who really cared about me and it showed.  I tend to think that I should give the above treatments some time to work first.  I still have 2 or 3 burn blisters that need.to go away first.  Dr. said it would take a long time.  I will do whatever I have to do to avoid a scar and have to tell inquisitive human beings with no boundaries that it is a birth mark, and still feel badly when wearing sleeveless blouses in the hot weather.  What is your advice and prognosis please sir?  I know that I will one day get old and ugly any way, but honestly, I am still quite a good looking woman (age 62, look age 47), so they tell me, having my face injected with Restylene, or whatever, since age 50.  I have told you all of the relevant details and appreciate your advice and prognosis.  By the way, the ego involved psychiatrist that gave me Saffrin to sleep for psychotic, not neurotic people has since lost his license to prescribe.  I do not believe in suing folks; would not want anyone to sue me.  Thanks again.  I look forward to hearing from you.  My email address: ***@****.  God bless and be well!  Lynda Harris Boscaino

Kristle,
Have you seen any chance yet??

Shine,
I got burned by hot wax on my hand and there's a little hypopigmented scar there now. I read about you using ginger juice + vitamin D and I'm really relieved because I have hope now. The dermatologist I went to gave me Dovonex and Vectical cream. They are caleciterol creams (contain heavy amounts of vitamin D). I didn't put it on as much because I keep losing patience (lol). But I want to know if you think my burn scar will go away with ginger juice and vitam D. And how about the gel from vitamin D capsules??

Let me know please =)

I have just started using ginger 7-8 days ago,,,,,,,but when i got my laser and got burned, i started using vitamin e and mixed it with vitamin A and D cream from wallgreen,,,or shoppers drug mart,,,,,,,,, and i use to keep it moist 24-7 and use to do this 3 or 4 times a day and its been a month since i got my laser but i could see a little change and my marks are not that white or red anymore.......I am trying to put vitamin e and ginger juice on my marks.........just to see if this changes it more.....One more thing,,,,if u put all these things and u feel that its too greasy,,,then u can put some baby powder on it too........

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The symptoms that you are having can be due to post inflammatory hypopigmentation. Although this type of skin problem is very difficult to treat, but you can try Elidel cream or Protropic ointment on these hypopigmented areas. But use them after a dermatologist’s guidance. If the symptoms still persist then  you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA).It has provided excellent results in such hypopigmentation.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
