Hi

So this started as a fungal nail infection. Is this correct?

Paronychia if severe may require drainage of the pus and may also need a higher form of antibiotic which would be given for at least 7 days. This may not readily resolve. If a fungal infection is present , then terbinafine or oral forms of antifungal may be needed. Complete your intake of the medications. Comply with the antibiotics .The affected areas should dry up in a week's time. If this persists, consult your dermatologist or internist for further assessment. You may need another set of antibiotics or the pus may need to be drained.
