I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL FOR ANY HELP

First of all I want to start off by saying that I am a health freak and I tend to get EXTREMELY paranoid about my body. My problem is that I had sex for the first time in a long time 12 days ago and for some reason I can't get rid of the notion of getting herpes. I wore a condom and questioned the hell out of the girl before and after. The past 18 days of my life have been total hell. Every little hair folicle or sensation in my groin area is followed by a panic attack. A few days ago I noticed some redness so I consulted my father who is a health professional and works in a hospital and he told me it was jock itch from running as much as I do and laughed at me. I worry so much that I feel things that aren't there, I see things that aren't there etc. Today there was a small pink mark that I showed to my father and he told me it was an infected hair folicle and that it was normal. The information online is so confusing. I've heard that you can have herpes and not know it ? My immune system is a little weaker due to the fact that I have diabetes so I don't know if that would be the case for me. My question is I used a condom, I questioned the person, I don't have any blisters, sores, bleeding, pussing, pain ( unless I obsess) flu symptoms, it has been 18 going on 19 days since the incident and I need to know if I would have had symptoms by now ? Does herpes just show up as a cluster of red bumps or does it look like something else at first ? If I had herpes how would I know ?PLEASE HELP ME. Thank you.

Does herpes just show up as a cluster of red bumps or does it look like something else at first ? If I had herpes how would I know ? Does herpes tend to grow in the upper puboc regions ? This is just a little spot not even a bump really with a little color in the center. Looks like an infected hair folice and is around a few other old hair folicles. I'm losing my mind. Tomorrow is day 20 !!!! PLEASE HELP ME. Thank you.

Yes it is in my pubic hair above my penis and genitals. I just get so paranoid about the whole situation that I get nearly sick. Just a very small dot the size of a pin. It's near a few infected hair folicles I've had for awhile. It just scared me that it would occur during a time of great worry for me. It's been 18 days almost 19 now since my " incident" and I know that syptoms can appear up to 20 days later. So I have been freaking out totally. It's been one of the worst experiences of my life and I will change my sexual behavior totally after this hell. If you are telling me that it is unlikely it is herpes in that location I will go to bed and wait out the rest of this " sentence" I am so very sorry to keep bothering you and I really canno thanklyou enough for your help. Dr. Santos. It really means a lot.

Hi,

In males, the lesions occur on the shaft of the penis or other parts of the genital region, on the inner thigh, buttocks, or anus. Other symptoms are:  pain, itching or burning. If the bumps are found in places with hair, as in your case, it is most likely just folliculitis or infection of the hair follicle and will go away in a few days. Try not to wear tight clothing to prevent the hair from being pulled out unnecessarily.

Hi,

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2). You are correct in saying that most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from and when they do, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum within 2 weeks after exposure. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur. Although most individuals with HSV-2 infection  never have sores, or they have very mild signs that they do not even notice it.

Diagnosis is usually through visual inspection and by taking a sample from the lesion and testing it in a laboratory. If asymptomatic, blood tests, which detect  antibodies to HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection, can be helpful.

Take care and regards.
