I have a bump that wont go away

I've always had acne and very oily skin however a few weeks ago I noticed I had a small bump right under my nose, close to the inside of my nose. It really didn't bother me at first because it wasn't noticeable. At first glance it looked like a normal bump that would go away in a few days, a week tops. However it was a bump that didn't go away. I on occasion squeezed it and puss would come out, the sticky white kind. It was still a small bump but the fact that it didn't go away bothered me. Well one day I squeezed it and puss came out again but this time it bleed, I guess I squeezed a little to hard that time. Well that was a big mistake, I wish I never bothered it. After I squeezed it, a scab formed. I left it alone for a few days and after a looking at it, it looked like it was coming to a head and turning back into a pimple, so I popped it which I shouldn't have done again. So, I read somewhere that I should dab some dandruff shampoo on it because it will help it to dry out and go away faster. Well that was a huge mistake because it literally burned my skin. Now the area is swollen and the skin around it is swollen it and looks bruised. If only I had not picked it in the first place I would not be going through this now. What is it and what should I do?

I'm doing good thank you. Yes it was swollen and the skin around the bump was swollen as well. There was puss coming out of the bump. A friend of mine told me it was a herpes cold sore. It is really hard to describe it because it seem to have went through stages. It started off as a small bump that when squeezed puss came out, then I clearly got carried away with picking it and then it got really swollen and the area the  around the bump got puffy and swollen too. Then upon putting dandruff shampoo on it, it burnt my skin, I could feel it burning and a scab formed. Now a bump that started off very small is a huge scab on my face. Actually the scab fell off today, it still has some swelling and the skin around it is still a little puffy, but when the scab fell off more puss came out. I'm considering going to the doctors because I'm scared to death that it could be a cold sore that would be utterly devastating.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? What other symptoms are present? If there is presence of swelling and pus, presence of infection is likely and may warrant further evaluation. Keep the area clean and dry and try to avoid squeezing the bump to prevent secondary infection. It is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Antibiotics may be indicated to help with the infection. Take care and do keep us posted.
