Dear Mommie:
Most rashes like the one you describe are from viruses. Thgere are many besides
chickenpoxChickenpox
Chickenpox - close-up
Chickenpox - lesion on the leg
Chickenpox - lesions on the chest
Chickenpox - vaccine
Chickenpox treatment
Chickenpox, acute pneumonia - chest x-ray, and since you've checked the baby out and found there's no
feverAllergic rhinitis
Coccidioidomycosis
Febrile seizures
Fever
Fever blister
Fever blisters and canker sores
Herpes labialis (oral herpes simplex)
Histoplasmosis
Malaria
Rheumatic fever
Scarlet fever or other problem, there really isn't much to do but wait for the spots to go away, which they should by themselves in a few days. There isn't much you can do about the other kids in the house -- theyve already been exposed to whatever it is. At least if they get a rash, you'll know it's the same problem.
Wash your baby normally. If he gets feverish or otherwise sicker, see a docotr again, but that's not likely.
Otherwise, good luck and don't worry!
